Isn't atheism wonderful?

Instead of praying for help that will never come, from a god who isn%26#039;t there, we learn to grow up and stand on our own two feet.

Instead of seeing this life as merely a prelude to something else, we appreciate it for what it is - the main event, the whole play - as such, it couldn%26#039;t be more valuable, more precious, more significant.

Instead of agonizing over which set of man-made religious rules to follow, we can use our own minds, make our own decisions, live by our own values, make our own morality according to conscience, not dogma.

Instead of looking for a god in everything we see, and trying to shoe-horn reality into one particular religious mythology, we can see the world for what it really is, and let the evidence show us the truth.

Instead of being told we%26#039;re worthless sinners, fit only to worship a god and beg for his mercy, we understand that we%26#039;re amazing creatures, products of remarkable natural processes in an awe-inspiring universe, and be inspired by that.

Isn%26#039;t atheism wonderful?
its really speckfrickintacular ... the prophet icarus has spoken ... so let it be written .. so let it be done ..
Reply:Cookies are wonderful.

I dont think atheism is though

Reply:Good for you. Believe what you want..

Although mostly this sounds like your trying to tell everyone how much better atheism is then everything else. Or that wonderful comment of %26quot;Instead of praying for help that will never come, from a god who isn%26#039;t there, we learn to grow up and stand on our own two feet%26quot;

Who proved he isn;t there? You? Your insanely obcessive relationship with Richard Dawkins?

Oh by the way oh great one...I know how to stand on my own two feet with the help of God. Because of my faith I am fearless. Closing my eyes for 5 seconds to ask god for guidance on being strong doesn%26#039;t disrupt my day at all...and I am stll me and I am not perfect. Neither are you.

I am a Christian and I have Rules, but then again so do you. Religious %26quot;rules%26quot; are so just the same as a crime you would break in america...and the everyday moral code, that I suppose you have as well. I would hope anyways.
Reply:..and that%26#039;s just for starters. LOL

Nicely put.

Reply:atheism= a beautiful thing
Reply:We are just one small achievement in the vastness of this universe. Who knows what glories existence has made in the far reaches of space.

We need to take a look at the big picture and realize that the universe doesn%26#039;t revolve around us. Just because we have minds that can comprehend and think that it does doesn%26#039;t make it so.

I hope everyone gets what they desire from this world. Don%26#039;t waste the time you have.
Reply:You%26#039;re the best, Icarus. You%26#039;ve always been a cut above the rest, and I%26#039;m not just saying that.

Besides being the only logical conclusion, atheism is also wonderful because of those things you%26#039;ve just mentioned.

I%26#039;m glad you visit this section and that I%26#039;ve gotten to know you.
Reply:Yup...
Reply:Yes, Yes, YES!! Thank you so much for that question. You%26#039;ve definitely captured the essence of why I%26#039;m an atheist. You actually brought a bit of a tear to my eye. Well done!!!!!
Reply:Well look at it this way. If you are right and there is no God and I am praying and doing all that God stuff for nothing and we die nothing happens, neither of us have anything to worry about.

However, If us silly Christians were right and all this God stuff does exist we have nothing to worry about. How about you.?
Reply:You are so right!

Regarding bobbo%26#039;s answer: Are we allowed to drink when someone uses Pascal%26#039;s Wager as an answer?
Reply:Yes it is and everything you have stated is true.
Reply:Very well stated. You win the debate with flying colors. ,

Atheism is perfect for Atheists

With you as your own God, full of knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and self-reliance there is just no adequate reply.
Reply:What`s the Atheist word for amen .

Oh Yeah ,You are so right ...
Reply:You know I love you dearly my friend but I prefer deism.

(((Icarus))))
Reply:I hear you on that one mate. You%26#039;ve captured the main reason I believe that most Atheists are...well, Atheists. We don%26#039;t need to be scared by divine punishment to be good, decent people. (though I DO admit there are some bad ones, but that%26#039;s in every path) And there ARE a LOT of fire and brimstone answers on here...isn%26#039;t it just WONDERFUL! But to put it in proportions here, you DO seem to have put Atheism on a bit of a high horse....but then again, look at all the CHristians do it, so why can%26#039;t we %26quot;glorify%26quot; what we believe (or lack thereof...) and say %26quot;Our%26#039;s is good too!%26quot; Or is that wrong in some way? But still, Great question and I completly agree. NO NEED TO BE SCARED TO BE GOOD!!!!
Reply:Absolutely amazing way to describe the great lifestyle of an atheist. I adored it. : )
Reply:...and instead of sitting in a dark chilly frightening foxhole you find it convenient to believe in God
Reply:Instead of being unbeliever it is resourceful to be a believer. because inside the %26#039;no%26#039; exists nothing, but inside the %26#039;yes%26#039; exists everything.
Reply:only the people who has no religion so sad and lost
Reply:I suppose so, and you infallible belief in a crash near Roswell SM is sort of cute.
Reply:Obviously.
Reply:the best it%26#039;s ever been!
Reply:Good post...I agree!
Reply:Your theory breaks down in so many places, I am having difficulty choosing one to address. How about this. You are advocating a world where every man lives according to his own rules and his own self-defined morality, right? So, what happens when we disagree? In my world, I think it is morally acceptable to kill you because i don%26#039;t agree with you. Wrong? Why?

Worthless Sinners? True, there is none righteous, not one. Of course, you look past the main point that as sinners we are not held accountable when we accept the free gift God has given in his Son Jesus who paid the price for those sins.

I%26#039;d like to see your reference for the term worthless though.

What natural process made the Universe out of nothing? If the Universe has always existed with no Creation then why is so hard to believe that there is a God that had no creator? Stuck inside your own paradigms and temporal understanding of things? A tad narrow minded?
Reply:Lol! You talk of atheism as if it were a religion.

Honest quote %26quot;atheism is for those that had bad religion%26quot;.
Reply:No, not really. It seems really sad.
Reply:if atheism is so wonderful, then why do you need to post this and have others confirm it?

(because deep down you know that God is real)
Reply:atheism sucks and atheists know this but they just don%26#039;t admit it :) i have just talked to one two hours before.. she has had no real reasons of course :) she said the Bible and the Torah and the Quran is false (AstagfiruAllah) because Allah (SWT) God hasn%26#039;t signed it with His signature.. well, no comment.. congratulation.. what more can i say.. intelligent people..

also interesting that while you are claiming you don%26#039;t believe in any faith, you have chosen your nick from the greek myths..
Reply:no
Reply:Of course! Why shouldn%26#039;t we believe that this life is all that we have? Why shoudn%26#039;t we spend hours drinking and taking drugs to make ourselves happy? Why shouldn%26#039;t we all make our own laws and do whatever makes use feel good? Why shouldn%26#039;t we just go out and shoot the people that make us mad? They don%26#039;t have anything to live for, do they, if when they die everything is over anyway?

Fact- The deaf have heard, the blind receive their sight, the sick are healed, miracles are performed and preayers are answered EVERY DAY when disciples of God act in His name.

I don%26#039;t know what evidence tell you that our human intellegence and reasoning and capabilities originated from our closest relatives- the chimpanzees that still sit in the tree picking fleas off each other and eating them. But it seems to me that your turning a blind eye to the things that you don%26#039;t want to see.

Isn%26#039;t Christianity wonderful?

Instead of living a life of hopelessness and allowing the world to control us, we rely on the Alpha and Omega who hears our every prayer and has promised us his love.

Instead of seeing this life as the only pitiful existance that we will ever have, we see it as a place where we can serve our Lord and store treasure for ourselves in Heaven until the day that God calls us home and speaks the glorious words %26quot;well done%26quot; in our ear.

Instead of relying on our pathetically small human minds to set rules for us to live by, we follow the teachings of our Lord Jesus, who has given us a record of his holy teachings and a guidebook to a life pleasing the Lord.

Instead of seeing the world for what it looks like- a corrupt, violent, and immoral world with no hope, looming war, and threats of death, we see it for what it really is- a world created perfect and ruined by humans. A place where God%26#039;s people are given free will to chose their course of life, and where we work to serve our Lord and redeem the lost and dying.

Instead of trying to justify sins by claiming that we act on biological insticts and live for ourselves, we understand that we are amazing creature, created uniquly by the hand of God and with the responsibility to obey the Lord that created us. With the need of a Savior because we cannot save ourselves, and we are inspired by the knowledge of what rewards await us in Heaven.
